Description
Summit Business Media is hiring for a Reporter in the Washington, DC area to work on their weekly B2B publication, Credit Union Times.
Job Responsibilities are as follows:
- Monitor and report on federal legislation and trends impacting credit unions and their interests, including consumer disclosures and protections, regulatory relief, expanded powers, lobbying reform, and various others.
- Monitor and report on federal regulation and trends impacting credit unions coming from the National Credit Union Administration, Federal Reserve Board, Financial Accounting Standards Board and various other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor and report on litigation relating to the above.
- Talking with sources and analyzing the policy and politics behind the legislation. regulation, and litigation, including bank interference.
- Monitor and report on legislation, regulation, and litigation moving in certain states.
- Profiling key leaders and organizations within the Washington news beat.
- Attend industry conferences and other networking events and activities.
Requirements
- Two years of reporting experience required, legislative/regulatory news coverage preferred
- Demonstrated ability to write breaking news, hard news, features, required for daily and weekly deadlines, as well as the ability to think analytically for in-depth longer-term assignments
- Knowledge of credit unions, financial services, and/or Capitol Hill and regulatory process a big plus
- Bachelors in political science, journalism, or related field required.
