JOB DESCRIPTION
Established business-to-business publishing company seeks Assistant Editor for Inside Counsel mangazine. Degree in English or Journalism required; writing and editing experience in a professional setting preferred. Discriminating eye for grammar, punctuation, and spelling a must, as is the ability to work within tight deadlines. Must be extremely proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to quickly learn other programs utilized to generate and disperse up-to-date content. Familiarity with AP style a plus.
Launched in 1991 InsideCounsel is the pioneering monthly magazine exclusively serving general counsel and other top in-house legal professionals. Formerly known as Corporate Legal Times, InsideCounsel is the oldest monthly magazine published specifically for in-house counsel. It has a monthly circulation of 40,000 including 22,384 chief legal officers, VPs and general counsel.
InsideCounsel's mission is to provide the strategic tools that general counsel need to better manage their legal departments and fully understand the business risks companies face today. The magazine's unique coverage includes benchmarking surveys, examinations of substantive legal issues, regional news and a variety of columns and departments covering such critical areas as litigation, corporate governance, labor and intellectual property.
We are looking for a editorial star wannabe who won’t crack under pressure. You will be internet savvy enough to research, edit, and publish an electronic newsletter each week for a readership of insurance professionals and executives. You must be able to develop an eye for issues important to our readers and contribute copy every month for various magazine departments. You must be a team player. We promise you’ll learn the inner workings of b-to-b magazine publishing from the pros, and have a lot of fun doing it.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Journalism, English or Communications
1-2 years of magazine writing/editing experience, preferred
1-2 years web writing/editing experience, preferred
Strong writing, editing and research skills
Strong understanding and interest in interactive media- web writing, editing and organization
Proficient in Microsoft Word
Understanding on HTML and InCopy/InDesign a plus
Understanding or an interest in law a plus
