Summit Business Media Names Jonathan Moore
Vice President and Managing Director of Events Division
New York, N.Y., June 4, 2009 – Summit Business Media today announced that Jonathan Moore has been named Vice President and Managing Director of Summit’s Events Division. Moore, previously Director of the Conference and EEI Group within that division, managing financial, insurance and professional services conferences and education programs, now adds responsibility for the International Investment Conferences Group (“IIC”), focused on mining and natural resource investment events worldwide.
As head of the Conference and EEI Group, Moore managed a portfolio of 15 conferences, 50 professional education sessions, and online events. With his new duties, he will assume responsibility for Summit’s investment conferences for the natural resources sector, which attract mining analysts, fund managers, investment specialists and financiers from around the world. Key events include the Mining Indaba annual conference for natural resources professionals investing in African mining, held each February in Cape Town, South Africa, and the Hard Assets Investment Conferences for investors in junior mining companies, held in New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
“The Summit portfolio of events is an important component of Summit’s overall growth strategy,” said Andrew L. Goodenough, President and CEO. “Jonathan has already distinguished himself as a proven leader and strong communicator to key constituencies across the Summit platform. Moving forward, Jonathan and his dedicated events team are well positioned to take advantage of numerous opportunities in the events space, both in the global natural resources sector and in the financial sector in the U.S.”
Moore joined Summit in December 2007 to run all non-mining conferences, and added the EEI professional education seminars to his area of responsibility at the end of 2008. Prior to Summit, he was Vice President of Events and Education at the Interactive Advertising Bureau, Senior Director of Conferences and Expositions at SourceMedia (formerly Thomson Media) and Senior Vice President at Strategic Research Institute. Early in his career, Moore was a Financial Consultant with Smith Barney, holding Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Timothy J. Wood, the former Director of IIC, has left full-time employment with Summit and is in discussions about a consulting role with IIC focused to speaker programs and new product development, while pursuing other business interests unrelated to the mining industry.
