Research Magazine Awarded Excellence in Financial Journalism Award for Sixth Straight Year
Global Economy columnist Alexei Bayer a Four-Time Winner
SAN FRANCISCO, APRIL 8, 2009 – Research magazine announced today that magazine contributor Alexei Bayer was selected for the fourth straight year as a recipient of the Excellence in Financial Journalism Award that recognizes reporters from the national press who contribute to a better understanding of business topics. Twelve judges, representing the NYSSCPA and the New York Financial Writers Association, selected winners. Journalists will be presented with their awards at a luncheon at the Yale Club in New York City on May 5th.
Bayer received his award for his Global Economy series, which analyzes economic trends that affect both the fate of nations and the contents of investors' wallets. Fourteen other awards were also announced. To view the complete list of winners, click here.
Alexei Bayer is president of KAFAN FX Information Services, an economic consulting firm, and has been writing a monthly column for Research magazine since 1997. His articles can be viewed online at ResearchMag.com.
Research editor Gil Weinreich had high praise for his veteran columnist: "Unlike other practitioners of the 'dismal science,' Alex Bayer's breadth of knowledge, moral compass and literary skill ensure that his commentary is as much a pleasure to read as it is essential to read. This fourth consecutive award is so richly deserved, and I applaud NYSSCPA for its unshakable commitment to merit-based decision-making."
Although this is the fourth consecutive win for Bayer, it is actually the sixth consecutive year that Research has won the prestigious Excellence in Financial Journalism award. The NYSSCPA recognition is usually awarded to consumer press titles like The Wall Street Journal; it is therefore remarkable that a trade magazine like Research has been such a consistent winner.
