Summit Business Media Support the Troops Volunteer Project a Huge Success
Erlanger, KY—September 17, 2009—On September 8, 2009, Summit Business Media shipped care packages to the relatives of employees and their units marking the end of an eight week, company-wide Support the Troops Project. The employees from Summit’s twelve offices joined together to collect non-perishable items. After six weeks of collecting, each office shipped their items to Summit's home office in Erlanger, Kentucky. The items were then divided and assembled in to care packages and prepared to ship. The care packages arrived in Iraq the third week of September.
After six weeks, the contributions from the remote offices arrived at Summit’s home office in Erlanger, Kentucky. A team of volunteers divided and prepared the care packages to ship to the relatives of four Summit employees and their units. The care packages arrived in Iraq the last week of September.
Each soldier and their unit received:
370 pieces of hard candy
300 hand sanitizing wipes
223 suckers
203 Rice Krispie Treats
127 granola bars/cereal bars
106 toothbrushes
104 bags (servings) of Easy Mac
89 containers of Raman Noodles
88 Bags of microwavable popcorn
135 packs of gum
67 packs of Altoids
63 boxes of toothpaste
16 Little Debbie Treats
12 puzzle/game books
9 sticks of deodorant
8 large powdered drink mix containers
6 bottles of sunscreen
5 large bags of sunflower seeds
2 large bags of beef jerky

Summit plans to make this a project an annual effort and anticipates the support from employees will continue to grow. Other company-wide volunteer initiatives are also being planned for 2010.
