William F. Reilly
Chairman and CEO, Summit Business Media
Bill Reilly has been a pioneer in private equity build-ups in the media world for the last 30 years. Prior to Summit Business Media, Mr. Reilly was best known as the Chairman and CEO of PRIMEDIA, Inc., a New York based specialty media company he founded in 1989 in partnership with Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR). Mr. Reilly left PRIMEDIA in 2001 to found Aurelian Communications in partnership with Providence Equity Partners. In 2002, Aurelian acquired F&W Publishing based in Cincinnati, Ohio in February 2002 and divested it four years later.
Mr. Reilly has been a leader in media and publishing since he became President of Macmillan, Inc. in 1980, during their greatest period of growth in its 50 plus year history. From 1982-1989, Macmillan’s revenues more than tripled, its earnings grew at an average rate of 23% per year and the value of the stock increased 12 fold. Mr. Reilly applied a similar growth strategy at PRIMEDIA, where revenues grew to over $1.7 billion and EBITDA of $350 million in his last full year as CEO (1999). The company had in excess of 200 magazines including such well-known publications as Chicago, Seventeen, Modern Bride, American Baby and New York magazines. In satellite-delivered TV, the company owned Channel One and Westcott Education.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of Barnes & Noble, FMC, Channel 13 and Harvard Business School Press. He is also a trustee at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Andrew L. Goodenough
President
Andy Goodenough was named president of Summit in November, 2007. In 2002, he created the business plan for a new financial services information company in 2002, secured equity funding from Spire Capital in January 2003 and in October of that year, launched Highline Media and acquired The National Underwriter Company, now the flagship of Summit’s operations. Mr. Goodenough previously served as the President of Thomson Media's Banking Publishing/Conferences Group. The group published/hosted more than 80 products and events including American Banker, U.S. Banker, Bank Technology News, National Mortgage News, Credit Union Journal and many others. Prior to serving at Thomson, Mr. Goodenough was President of USB Corporation and Publisher of U.S. Banker, which was sold to Thomson in 1993. Mr. Goodenough is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont and holds an MBA degree in finance and marketing from New York University.
Thomas M. Flynn
CFO and Managing Director, Corporate Shared Services
Tom Flynn was promoted to CFO of Summit in June, 2007 from his post as Highline divisional CFO. Prior to Summit/Highline, Mr. Flynn served as SVP and CFO for PRIMEDIA Business Magazines and Media, a $300 million division. Prior to PRIMEDIA, Mr. Flynn held executive operational and financial positions at About.com, Hibernia Communications, InfoBase Holdings and Price Waterhouse in New York City. He serves on the Board of Finance for the town of Fairfield, CT., is the Vice Chairman of the American Business Media Finance Committee and is a graduate of Syracuse University with dual degrees in accounting and journalism from the Newhouse School of Communications.
Joseph M. Bennett
Chief Administrative Officer
Joe Bennett teamed with Pfingsten Partners in 1998 to start Pfingsten Publishing, LLC, and was the President of the Company since 1999. Prior to joining Pfingsten, Mr. Bennett held a variety of senior level management positions (marketing director, publisher and general manager) with HUEBCORE Communications, Inc., a trade magazine publisher formerly owned by Pfingsten Partners. Mr. Bennett holds a BA degree in Marketing from the University of Akron.
Christos J.P. Moschovitis
CIO
Christos J.P. Moschovitis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He has over 25 years of computer expertise, including work at Pratt Institute where he headed the team that implemented five computer centers, and the O’Connor Group, where he was Vice President of Information Technology. In 1989 Chris started his own company, The Moschovitis Group, Inc., focused on providing independent technology management expertise and outsourcing services. Subsequently the company formed two wholly owned subsidiaries: The Technology Management Group, Inc. (TMG), and MTM Publishing, Inc. TMG went on to further expanded its Internet offerings by acquiring e*media, Inc., an internationally acclaimed interactive agency, whose client roster includes among many others Kellogg, Bayer, and The National Institutes of Health. Chris is co-author of the critically acclaimed History of the Internet: 1843 to the Present as well as a contributor to the Encyclopedia of Computers and Computer History and the Encyclopedia of New Media. In addition he frequently delivers lectures and workshops on a variety of topics in the areas of management, strategy, technology, and interactive media. Mr. Moschovitis holds degrees from the State University of New York and has graduate studies at R.I.T., the University of Rochester, and New York University.
Thomas A. Fowler
Executive Vice President, Magazine Division
Tom Fowler has 28 years of publishing experience including 22 years in business-to-business. He previously served as the Group Publisher at Pennwell for their Fire Group. Prior to Pennwell, Mr. Fowler led the Investment Management Group at Thomson Media and also held an executive position at Fairchild Communications. Mr. Fowler is a graduate of Yale University and holds an MBA from Harvard University.
Charles K. Hirsch
Vice President and Group Publisher
Chuck Hirsch was Group Vice President and Publisher of the Financial Services Group of Pfingsten Publishing, LLC., where he managed Mortgage Originator, American Agent & Broker, and Life Insurance Selling and all products related to these markets. In 2005, Mr. Hirsch was given responsibility for managing the newly purchased International Investment Conferences and ResourceInvestor.com. He joined Commerce Publishing Company (CPC) as an assistant editor, progressed thru a variety of editorial positions and eventually was named editor. He was a member of the board of directors and part owner of CPC when Pfingsten purchased it in 1999. Mr. Hirsch holds a BA degree from Stanford University.
James M. Keefe
Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Event Division
Jim Keefe has more than 20 years of publishing and live event experience working extensively in the financial services industry. Mr. Keefe previously led Thomson Media’s conference group consisting of 50 annual events with $20 million in annual revenues. Prior to Thomson, Mr. Keefe was acquisition editor of financial publishing titles at Irwin/McGraw Hill. He is a graduate of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY.
F. Reilly Cobb
Vice President and Managing Director, Data Division
F. Reilly Cobb joined Highline Media with the Data Division acquisition from Sheshunoff. Mr. Cobb has spent 15 years in the insurance database operation under previous ownership at Lotus, OneSource and Thomson. Prior to joining the business that is now Highline Data, Mr. Cobb was the Director of Marketing for ISI Systems, Inc. a publicly traded technology company focused on delivering policy processing, claims processing and underwriting systems for top tier P&C insurance firms. He has also held several senior positions in the broker / dealer industry where he was a financial reporting principal. A former supply officer in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Cobb holds a BA in Economics from Tulane University and an MBA from the University of Houston.
Kathy Schneider
Vice President of Human Resources
Kathy Schneider brings over 25 years of HR experience to the company, all in the publishing industry. Prior to joining Highline in 2004, she was the HR Director for F&W Publications in Cincinnati, OH. Ms. Schneider is a member of the HR Committee of American Business Media, and has mentored less-experienced HR managers through the Employers Resource Association in Cincinnati. She holds a BS from the University of Cincinnati.
FRED C. RODGERS
Vice President Managing Director, Reference Division
Fred Rodgers teamed with Joe Bennett and Pfingsten Partners in 1998 to start Pfingsten Publishing, LLC, and was its Executive Vice President since 1999. Mr. Rodgers has been in business to business media since 1979 in various capacities from independent advertising sales representative to Group Publisher. He has been involved with many acquisitions and joint ventures with media companies both on the national and international levels. Mr. Rodgers holds a BA degree in English from the University of Notre Dame.
ERIC SMITH
Vice President, IAFG
Eric Smith has served the international art market in a variety of capacities since 1985. Mr. Smith was named Vice President of the International Art and Framing Group (IAFG) under Pfingsten Publishing, LLC, in 2000, and he continues to grow the market’s trade shows, magazines and conferences through this position for Summit Business Media. Mr. Smith acted as Retail Director of Martin Lawrence Galleries; served as Director of Sales for Artexpo New York and Artexpo Los Angeles under Advanstar Communications; and launched art21 Productions, organizer of art21 Las Vegas and Palm Springs International Art Fair, before joining Pfingsten in 2000.
Eric J. Baum
Vice President of Business Development
Eric Baum worked with William Reilly to launch Aurelian Communications in April 2001 and was instrumental in the founding of Summit Business Media in 2006. Prior to Summit, he was Vice President of Development for F+W Publications, publisher of consumer special interest magazines. Previously, Mr. Baum was a Director of International Marketing in the trade show industry and has worked on B2B trade show programs in India, China, Singapore, Thailand and Russia. He holds dual masters degrees in business administration and international affairs from Columbia University and a BA from Harvard University.
Anthony C. Reilly
Vice President of Business Development
Tony Reilly joined Summit Business Media at its founding in November, 2006. Mr. Reilly has over 18 years experience in all operational aspects of the publishing and media business. From 1990-1994 he was an editor and writer for Premiere where he wrote a sports video column and published interviews with Billy Crystal and Ashley Judd. In 1996, he founded ARC Publishing, a media company that published magazines, websites, directories and newsletters focusing on the casino and gaming industry. The flagship publication was called Chance and he was Publisher and Editorial Director for six years. Mr. Reilly holds a BA from the University of Vermont and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
