Steve Weitzner
President and CEO
Steve Weitzner is Chief Executive of Summit Business Media. Weitzner has been a key figure in the business-to-business publishing industry since joining Hearst Business Communications as an editor in 1977. Following periods with Hearst and McGraw-Hill, he joined CMP Media, now United Business Media LLC, rising from Associate Publisher to COO and CEO over more than 20 years with that firm. Before coming to Summit, Weitzner was chairman and CEO of Ziff Davis Enterprise. His innovative work in transforming print-centric publishing companies to integrated marketing businesses has been honored with many of the top awards from the industry’s business-to-business marketing and publishing media outlets, including B2B Media Business’ CEO Innovator, B2B Who’s Who in B2B, B2B Media Business Who’s Who 100, Folio Magazine’s Top 40, Min’s 21 Most Intriguing People and Min’s Digital Hall of Fame.
Brian Magnotta
Chief Information Officer
Brian Magnotta is responsible for all aspects of information technology including strategy, development, implementation, infrastructure and support. Prior to joining Summit, Brian was Chief Technology Officer for Ziff Davis Enterprise where he led the development and implementation of solutions to drive the company’s digital and mobile technology strategy. He spent seven years at Reed Business Information in technology leadership roles helping accelerate the company’s transformation to a digital media company. A seasoned executive with 20+ years of experience, Brian also held various positions as an Information Technology consultant for McKinsey & Co., Coopers & Lybrand and Answerthink. He has managed and capitalized on information technology for numerous industries including media, publishing, financial services, professional services, transportation, waste services, healthcare and electronics. Brian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from Manhattan College.
Peter Westerman
Chief Audience Officer
Peter has more than 20 years of experience managing all aspects of interactive media businesses. His expertise includes on-line community building, development of partner ecosystems around technology platforms, and the architecture and execution of comprehensive results-oriented marketing communications programs. Programs developed by Peter and his teams have won “best of” internal marketing effectiveness awards from some of the largest IT products and services companies in the world. Peter is a former publisher and group publisher of Dr. Dobb’s Journal, Software Development Magazine, Microsoft Systems Journal and other IT-related publications. He has also launched and managed successful online and live events businesses, and held numerous senior direct marketing positions over the years. Prior to working in information technology media, Peter held senior management positions for regional consumer and business media companies developing custom media programs for clients. Most recently he worked as Senior Vice President of Audience Marketing at Ziff Davis Enterprise. Peter speaks frequently at industry events about database marketing and media transformation.
John Whelan
Executive Vice President, Media Division
John Whelan is responsible for publishing operations and business development of the Financial and Professional Services Group. Prior to joining Summit, John was the Group Publisher for Wicks Business Information before it was acquired by Summit in 2007. Before that, John spent ten years at Source (formerly Thomson) Media, most recently as Publishing Director of the Investment Advisor Group, which included a variety of print, online, and custom publishing products. During his 17 year career in publishing, he has served as Director of Electronic Media at Thomson Financial, Publisher of Financial Planning Magazine, and as Law Editor at Oxford University Press (UK). John is a graduate of Nottingham University and also attended New College, Oxford, England. He currently resides in Manhattan, New York.
F. Reilly Cobb
Vice President, Marketing Data Group (MDG)
F. Reilly Cobb joined Highline Media with the Data Division acquisition from Sheshunoff. Mr. Cobb has spent 15 years in the insurance database operation under previous ownership at Lotus, OneSource and Thomson. Prior to joining the business that is now Highline Data, Mr. Cobb was the Director of Marketing for ISI Systems, Inc. a publicly traded technology company focused on delivering policy processing, claims processing and underwriting systems for top tier P&C insurance firms. He has also held several senior positions in the broker / dealer industry where he was a financial reporting principal. A former supply officer in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Cobb holds a BA in Economics from Tulane University and an MBA from the University of Houston.
Jonathan Moore
Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Event Division
Jonathan Moore has over 14 years of live event/conference experience. Prior to joining Summit in 2007 he was Vice President of Events and Education at the Interactive Advertising Bureau responsible for the IAB’s event portfolio and professional development training. He spent eight years at Thomson Media/Source Media helping to build their live event business, including heading program development and serving as Senior Director of the Conference Division. He started his events career at Strategic Research Institute where he ran the Health Care and Finance divisions. Jonathan also spent time as a financial consultant with Smith Barney. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburg and holds a B.S. in Marketing.
Richard Kravitz
Vice President and Managing Director, Professional Publishing Division
Richard Kravitz joined Summit Business Media is March, 2010. Kravitz, previously a senior executive at Wolters Kluwer US Corp., has 20-plus years in the professional reference sector, focused to the tax, accounting and legal markets. Kravitz’s 16-year career with Wolters Kluwer spanned a number of its units. Most recently he was Executive Vice President, Business Development, for the Law and Business Division, with operating responsibility for more than $100 million in revenue. In that role he restructured a number of legacy brands, focusing on digital transformation. Prior to that position, Kravitz was Senior Vice President and Group Publisher of Aspen Publishers, growing that Wolters Kluwer unit to nearly $200 million in ten years, acquiring 19 businesses and product lines and leading business development initiatives, both resulting in strong growth for the unit. Kravitz also was group publisher at Warren, Gorham and Lamont, and a general manager at Diners Club, a Citigroup unit. He began his career as a CPA at Deloitte & Touche, followed by several accounting and audit roles in media companies. Kravitz holds a BA in Economics and Spanish Literature and an MBA from New York University, is a CPA, Diplomate.
