From acquisitions to internal audit, women have impact in corporate finance, despite concerns about gender equity

NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 1, 2012) – Treasury & Risk, the leading Summit Business publication and website for CFOs, treasurers, risk managers and senior financial executives, today announced its 30 Outstanding Women in Finance rankings for 2012. The list and accompanying editorial content can be found online at TreasuryandRisk.com and in the magazine’s April/May issue.

Each year the editors of Treasury & Risk compile a list of women in corporate finance who have made a difference to their companies and their industries. The executives on this year’s list have worked on acquisitions, spin-offs and IPOs, led bond deals and negotiated credit lines, wrested upgrades from credit rating agencies, developed sourcing strategies, set up an in-house bank and built a best-in-class internal audit group.

“The percentage of women in executive positions at Fortune 500 companies has barely budged in the last few years,” says Editor-in-Chief Donna Miskin. “Despite that discouraging reality; women executives in corporate finance continue to press forward, juggling work-life balances, multitasking to the hilt, and doing whatever it takes to get the job done.”

The accomplishments of these 30 leaders in corporate finance serve as an inspiration and a reminder that perseverance and execution count. Read more about how these executives are making a difference.

The April/May issue also includes the results of the 2012 Women in Finance survey. Highlights of the survey include:

  • Twice as many women (82%) as men (41%) see a glass ceiling in corporate America. This shows a growing awareness when compared to the 29% of men who acknowledged its existence in 2010.
  • 90% of women say lucrative pay packages are more often offered to men, and 45% of men agree
  • Just 15% of women would give their companies a grade of A for effort in achieving gender diversity at the top.

Treasury & Risk aims to chronicle for our readers the progress of women to the C-suite and how perceptions about women’s leadership roles evolve from year to year,” says Miskin.
